Industrial Design Defined
Industrial design (ID) as defined by the Industrial Designers Society of America is the professional service of creating and developing concepts and specifications that optimize the function, value and appearance of products and systems for the mutual benefit of both user and manufacturer.
Industrial designers develop these concepts and specifications through collection, analysis and synthesis of data guided by the special requirements of the client or manufacturer. They are trained to prepare clear and concise recommendations through drawings, models and verbal descriptions. See more at:
Industrial Design at Wentworth Institute of Technology
Wentworth’s Industrial Design program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design. It is a fully accredited four-year program by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). The Industrial Design educational experience includes a cooperative work program in which students are required to spend two semesters working as an intern in the professional design field.
